Cloister Records was formed in 1999 by Chris Barlow BMus MSc. Chris is an experienced musician having sung bass in the choirs of Chester Cathedral, Sheffield Cathedral and York Minster. On completing a degree in Music and a Masters in Music Technology, Chris set up Cloister Records to provide high quality recording and editing that would be within the financial reach of smaller groups.
While Cloister Records concentrate particularly on choral and chamber music, we have also recorded Orchestral works, Chorus and Orchestra, Brass Band, solo oragan and solo voice. We have recorded in a variety of venues across the country and specialise in getting the best result possible out of the available acoustic, using matched pairs of microphones placed around the recording environment.
